Guest Lecture on Artificial Intelligence and Public Policy

Artificial Intelligence is much talked about topic in the world now-a-days. It is something which will completely change the future of how we do things even the basics one- walk, talk and eat. As MIB programme aims at developing the minds of the students according to the future aspects, a wonderful guest lecture was taken by Mr. Bratin Chakravorty, CEO, Rapid Transpay Pvt. Ltd. on 2nd Nov, 2018. The talking point was "Artificial Intelligence and Public Policy" wherein Mr. Bratin threw the light on how AI and Public policy is understood in current scenario.

This three hours guest lecture was organized by Prof. Kapil Mohan Garg and Prof. Abhinav Kataria for MIB first year students. This opportunity made the students understand about what actually Artificial Intelligence is and how different minds have different definitions for it. Mr. Bratin taught about how the world perceives Artificial Intelligence, what are its various names and types of AI. He also gave various examples like of washing machine, drone, nuclear reactor, etc. to help the students understand the concept easily. Not only that, he told the students about the top AI companies and Top 100 startups based on AI. Then he talked about very common question that comes in every person's mind when s/he thinks of AI,i.e, "Does AI means end of this world?" followed by AI dark possibilities.

He then introduced a new concept with the students,i.e, Human-In-the-Loop and finally he spoke about policy that touch AI, the need of it and challenges in framing policies by government and the organizations and how to deal with that. At last, Prof. Kapil gave the momento to Mr. Bratin as a token of remembrance and closed the session. On and all, it was a great knowledgeable session wherein students participated enthusiastically with Mr. Bratin.
