The school of Biosciences at the IMS Ghaziabad (University Courses Campus) organized a guest lecture on the 16th January 2019. The objective of the lecture was to provide an exposure to the current research studies in the field of Biology.

In a brief welcome ceremony, the guest, Professor Ajay Kumar, Professor & Director (ICTR) at School of Environmental Affair ,Universidad Metropolitana, UMET - Universidad Metropolitana PR USA was introduced and felicitated with plant sapling and a momento . Professor Ajay Kumar spoke about the issue of water pollution. His talk focused on the shrinking reservoirs of water over the world causing potable water shortage. He discussed several critical technicalities of water pollution as a result of human activities. He outlined the potential threat of over usage of antibiotics and chemicals such as pesticides in agriculture and how such contaminants enter the water and food chain thereby posing a threat to human life. He also elaborated on the bio-accumulation of antibiotics into drinking water leading to antibiotic resistance in the population.

Professor Ajay Kumar urged the students to take care of the environment by being more aware of their surroundings and introduce good research practices towards the betterment of the environment for human life. The event was presided over by the Chairperson, School of Biosciences, Dr. Abha Vashistha. A formal vote of thanks was proposed by Dr.Umesh Kumar, Assistant Professor, Bio-Sciences.
