IMSUC Speaker’s Genesis Toastmasters Club
We are delighted to introduce you to IMSUC Speaker’s Genesis Toastmasters Club. We are proud to say this club is our campus branch of Toastmasters International, which is an American non-profit educational organization that operates clubs worldwide for the purpose of promoting communication, public speaking, and leadership skills. Since its inception in 1924, Toastmasters has served over four million people and currently has 352,000 members in 141 countries, through its 16,400-member clubs.
What is Toastmaster International?
Toastmasters International is a world leader in communication and leadership development. Our organization has more than 357,000 memberships. Members improve their speaking and leadership skills by attending one of the 16,600 clubs in 143 countries that make up our global network of meeting locations. The world needs leaders. Leaders head families, coach teams, run businesses and mentor others. These leaders must not only accomplish, they must communicate. By regularly giving speeches, gaining feedback, leading teams and guiding others to achieve their goals in a supportive atmosphere, leaders emerge from the Toastmasters program. Every Toastmasters journey begins with a single speech. During their journey, they learn to tell their stories. They listen and answer. They plan and lead. They give feedback—and accept it. Through our community of learners, they find their path to leadership.
The Toastmasters Club Mission
The mission of a Toastmasters Club is to provide a mutually supportive and positive learning environment in which every individual member has the opportunity to develop oral communication and leadership skills, which in turn foster self-confidence and personal growth.
Education at Toastmasters
Education is an important part of every Toastmaster’s journey, and it is a critical aspect of all club meetings around the world. Develop and practice communication and leadership skills in the safe, supportive environment of your club, working through projects and assignments that enable you to build real–world skills in a variety of disciplines. Learn at your own pace in a proven curriculum that was built on four guiding principles that have been in place since Toastmasters was founded in 1924:
Experiential learning – By giving speeches and fulfilling leadership roles, you practice and improve.
Peer feedback – Grow and improve through honest and supportive peer evaluation.
Mentoring – Experienced mentors encourage, guide and support you in your goals and help you to achieve more than you thought possible.
Self-paced program – Develop skills at your own pace and comfort level.
Toastmasters education is comprised of the traditional education program, the Pathways learning experience, the Youth Leadership Program, the Interpersonal Communication Program and the Speechcraft Program.
