Summary of the event-
“Sustainable development is the development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.” - Gro Harlem Brundtland
School of Biosciences, IMS Ghaziabad (University Course Campus) organized Genesis-2023, an Inter-Institutional fest on the occasion of NATIONAL SCIENCE DAY on February 24th, 2023.Since 2008, Genesis has evolved into a scientific platform where the young mind and budding researchers from different institutions of Delhi-NCR, are provided a platform for sharing and learning for novel ideas, scientific information and innovative technologies.
This year, keeping in mind the global trends, Genesis 2023 has been themed: Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for upholding the future of coming generations. The fest covered a wide range of topics that highlighted cutting-edge science, celebrate the latest advances in science and technology and engage the students in open discussions on relevant issues affecting culture and society.
The event began with the registration of the participants early morning at 9:00 am. The inauguration of Genesis-2023 began with the auspicious ceremony by the participation of more than 360 students, by flower offering to deity Goddess Saraswati by Dr. Arun Kumar Singh, Director IMS Ghaziabad (University Course Campus) along with the invited eminent guest.
Dr. Surabhi Johari, Head of Department, School of Biosciences welcomed all the invited delegates and participants and brief the importance of sustainable development goals, the theme of GENESIS 2023 and the official opening of the Genesis-2023 was made open.
The Genesis-2023 was honored to have Prof.(Dr.) Suhel Parvez, Jamia Hamdard New Delhi, as chief guest along with Dr. Gangnesh Bagler, Guest of Honor, Associate Professor, Infosys Center for Artificial Intelligence Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology Delhi
Furthermore, the delegates explained the new trends in scientific technology and motivate the students regarding the carrier in science field. They told the importance to conduct these types of events which are helpful in growth & development of students.
In evening at 4:00 pm valedictory session was conducted in the graceful presence of Mr. Pritesh Singh Bhatia, Associate Director, Jubilant Biosys Limited as guest of honour. Dr. Surabhi Johari, Head of Department, School of Biosciences welcomed him and winners and participants in each category were honored with trophies, certificate of merit and participation.
Event was concluded by a formal vote of thanks of Dr. Swati Tyagi and Prof. Kapil Sharma, Event Coordinators. Our gratitude goes to Management council of our Institute and Director, Dr. Arun Kumar Singh for his invaluable support in conducting and organizing this event Genesis 2023..

BIOSPLASH
This event provided a platform for the participants to showcase their scientific and technological knowledge in the form of working and non-working display models accompanying the novel theme of greener and sustainable development including basic & applied sciences.

This event was aimed to assess the student’s orientation towards science and technological advancement. This quest tested their scientific, logical thinking ability and general knowledge in a team based competition.

SCIENTOON
SCIENTOON is the cartoons, based on science. They not only make you smile and laugh but also provide information about new researches, subjects and concepts in a simple, understandable and interesting way. It’s an art of communicating science with fun. This event provided a novel platform to express the various scientific topics in the form of cartoons. Scientoon not only made the audience laugh but also gave a new idea to express the scientific thoughts and challenges in a simple, understandable and novel form.

This event provided a platform for the budding bloggers to express their novel thoughts and ideas of science and technology in the form of video blogs where they addressed the various ideas and challenges related to science and technology.

ALPANA
Rangoli is an art form that is prominently known for its cultural and historic significance in India. History of rangoli, importance of rangoli and its scientific reason finds its roots in the Vedic and ancient times of India. It is an intrinsic part of Indians’ life so much so that no festival or prominent life occasion here happens without this beautiful and captivating art form. It is not necessary that we engage students with our exceptional science experiments, we can also encourage them to explore their artistic and creative talents. So this event is planned on the basis, what students learned during the journey of science and termed it “Scientific Rangoli” competition.
Topics-
Genesis 2023 witnessed an over whelmed response from various school and colleges and universities across the India.
Participants from over 40 different schools, college/university from across the India actively participated in various events with full zeal and enthusiasm.
