Summary of the Event:
INVENT-2026 was organised by the Department of Computer Science, IMS Ghaziabad – University Courses Campus, on 7th October 2026. The inter-institutional technical fest brought together students from colleges and schools to explore technology, creativity, innovation and talent. The event provided a platform for participants to turn ideas into action, test their technical knowledge, collaborate with peers and learn through healthy competition.
The fest featured a range of activities connected with artificial intelligence, debugging and cybersecurity, electronics, robotics and gaming. Events such as AI Quest, Electro-Art, Bug Bounty, Robo Velocity and Booyah Cup encouraged participants to think critically, solve problems, create, experiment and apply their skills in practical settings.
The welcome address introduced INVENT-2026 as more than a technical competition: it was presented as a platform where technology meets imagination, ideas meet execution, and curiosity meets competition. Participants were encouraged to think, build, compete and innovate. The variety of activities gave students opportunities to test their skills, creativity and presence of mind in different technical domains.
Objectives:
Address by the Guests:
Guest of Honour Mr. Nitish Kumar discussed the connection between bug bounty and cybersecurity, including understanding how systems may be broken into or exploited so that weaknesses can be identified. He emphasised that Gen Z’s curiosity is a strength: asking questions, clearing doubts and investigating ideas are essential parts of learning. He encouraged students to treat AI as a teacher and learning aid rather than merely a tool that supplies ready-made answers, and reminded them that instant AI responses can shorten the research process if learners stop verifying information or developing their own understanding. He highlighted the importance of asking not only “What is the answer?” but also “How did we get this answer?” Students were urged to research independently and question AI-generated information rather than accepting it blindly, as overdependence on technology can weaken independent thinking and problem-solving.
Director Prof. (Dr.) Jaskiran Kaur described college as a transition phase in which students prepare for an uncertain future, new challenges, workplaces and colleagues. She emphasised that technology alone is not enough: personal capabilities, practical skills and the ability to adapt also shape future success. She encouraged students to treat failure as part of growth – get up, begin again, keep going and never give up – and highlighted the importance of skill development and practical experience, including apprenticeships, as the requirements of the workplace continue to evolve. She reminded students that knowing about opportunities is not enough; effort, decisions, processes and results must be created through their own actions.
Dean Academics Dr. Geeti Sharma highlighted that IMS organises INVENT every year to give students opportunities to learn, innovate and participate. She encouraged students to focus on the process rather than only the final result, and to observe the problems around them and use technology creatively to develop practical solutions that make people’s lives easier.
The event concluded with the valedictory session, in which Dean Dr. Geeti Sharma, along with HOD Computer Science Dr. Gagan Varshney and the faculty coordinators, presented the trophies and prize money and congratulated the winners on their victory. The winners received a trophy, certificate and cash prize (I Prize – ₹5000, II Prize – ₹3000, III Prize – ₹1000).

Conclusion:
INVENT-2026 provided an engaging platform for students to explore technology, demonstrate their abilities and learn from expert perspectives. The speakers’ messages complemented the competitions: students should remain curious, question information, use AI as a learning partner, build practical skills, learn from failure and apply their knowledge to real-world challenges. The event concluded with recognition of the winners and appreciation for the participation and enthusiasm of students and institutions.
Overall, INVENT-2026 reaffirmed the Department of Computer Science’s commitment to promoting innovation, experiential learning, technical awareness and student development.
