The School of Biosciences, Microbiology, Food and Dairy Microbiology began its journey in 2002, under the auspices of this organization provide several biological science courses, affiliated to CCS University, Meerut.

B.Sc. Microbiology (Honors) is an undergraduate degree course, with an intake of 60 seats. The duration of the course is 3 years. It encompasses a number of specific fields which includes: Immunology, Pathogenic Microbiology, Microbial Genetics, Medical Microbiology, Agricultural Microbiology, Food and Dairy. The Microbiology graduates can start a career in government-based enterprise and research institutes or biotech-related companies such as food processing and pharmaceutical industry.

School of Biosciences, Microbiology, Food and Dairy Microbiology also provides specialization programs such as Food and Dairy Microbiology and Environmental Microbiology to make the student specialist in the given field. To make learning effective the department is enriched with highly qualified faculty members with expertise in their respective domain. Wi-Fi enabled campus, multi-media facilitated class rooms, well stocked library are the key features which help to impart the advance scientific and technical knowledge in the field of Microbiology.

Environmental Microbiology

Environmental Microbiology is a dynamic branch of Microbiology that deals with the development of the environment and microbes that remediate the problems of the environment. This branch of Microbiology harnesses the power of microbes to arrest toxic chemicals. Students will be able to understand the crucial elements such as bioremediation, wastewater treatment, biosensors, biodegradation, green synthesis etc.

Food and Dairy Microbiology

Food and Dairy Microbiology, one of the foremost important branches of Microbiology. This specialization
course involves the study of microbes associated with spoilage of food and dairy products and pathogens
causing foodborne diseases. This course also deals with the economic and practical use of microbes in various
industrial process like fermentation, pasteurization etc.

Eligibility for Admission:

Admission to the B.Sc. (H) Microbiology course is open to students of recognized board on satisfying the following conditions

  • The candidate must have passed intermediate /10+2 with biology/math with at least 45% marks for General and OBC and passing marks for SC & ST candidates.

Or

  • Candidates appearing for 10+2 examination or awaiting their results are also eligible to apply. Their candidature however, shall be considered subject to the clearance of the qualifying examination.
Selection Procedure:

The admission to the B.Sc. (H) Microbiology program will be done on the merit (based on the aggregate marks at 10+2 level) declared by the CCS University.

  • Candidate having 1 or 2 Years gap after XII need to submit a Gap Year Certificate.

Learning by doing is the philosophy that IMS believes in. There are more than 20 student-driven clubs, divided into two categories- Life skill based clubs and Employability skill or Domain Clubs.
