Summary of the event:
The Department of Management in association with the Research Cell organized a Peer Enrichment Session on "Input-Output/Social Accounting Matrix Methodology for Computing the Macroeconomic Impacts" on 29 June 2026. The session was delivered by Dr. Rajat Verma, Associate Professor, Department of Management, IMS Ghaziabad (University Courses Campus). The session aimed to enhance faculty members’ understanding of Input-Output (IO) analysis and Social Accounting Matrix (SAM) methodologies and their applications in macroeconomic research and policy analysis.
The resource person explained the fundamentals of Input-Output analysis, the IO mechanism from economic transactions to the Leontief multiplier, and the structure and significance of the Social Accounting Matrix. Differences between IO and SAM, endogenous and exogenous accounts, research workflow for building IO/SAM studies, and their relevance in the present economic context were discussed in detail. Practical demonstrations using Excel, hypothetical tax impact analysis, and examples of research applications enabled participants to understand how these models can be used to estimate sectoral linkages, economic multipliers, employment effects, and policy impacts.
