Industry Talk: Role of Intonation in Conversations by CDC

Anybody can communicate but only few can communicate effectively. Communication to be effective requires certain elements in right proportion, one of which is intonation. To guide the students to ace the art of intonation, Career Development Centre at IMS Ghaziabad, University Courses Campus organized an ‘Industry Talk’ in ‘Presentation Skills for Speaking Online’ Program on 17 October 2020 for the registered second-year students. The topic of the session was ‘Role of Intonation in Conversations’.

Ms. Neelu Vyas, Senior Journalist and News Anchor was the speaker of the session. Ms. Neelu shared her rich experience with the students which she gained during her course of career. According to her, intonation in conversations is critical to success of an individual. She guided the students on acing the art of intonation by sharing a mantra, which is taming the voice by practicing. Use of intonation makes the conversation more interesting, engaging and natural, which is vital in any conversation, irrespective of the number of people involved. Besides, she shared how intonation can be used to interpret the deeper meaning of words and expression emotions and attitude while presenting. She shared few interesting exercises on taming the voice and suggested the students to practice regularly.

Students appreciated this virtual talk and also expressed gratitude for organizing such sessions which helps them stand out in the competitive world by getting the valuable tips from the industry experts.
