Report of Peer Enrichment Session on "Literature review strategies & techniques"

 Summary of the Event:

Institute of Management Studies, Ghaziabad (University Courses Campus), Management Department organized a Peer Enrichment session on topic “Literature review strategies & techniques” by Prof. Komal Kapoor. The session start with the motivational words shared by Director Ma’am and she encouraged faculty members to write Research Paper, Book Chapters, Case studies for having good experience in the field of research as well as in academics also. The session was taken up by Prof. Komal Kapoor with an elaborate discussion on the importance of literature review and theory building in research. She emphasized the importance of doing qualitative studies and researches that have equal chance of getting published in Scopus and ABDC listed journals. The session was dedicated to learning various methods of doing literature review like content analysis, meta analysis, systematic literature review (SLR), thematic analysis, etc. 

The session was very productive and meaningful as each technique was discussed with the help of actual papers and methods of doing the same. The funnel approach was discussed by the resource person for shortlisting the research papers from the big pool and then reducing the number of final variables that would be discussed upon in the research. Ma’am also focused on the theory building process where each day some time needs to be devoted so that the flow can be created. 

One of the key learning from the session was for all the faculty members who are pursuing their research work or Ph.D that requires them to publish papers in good journals. A detailed literature review in either of the above methods can be very helpful in developing a strong paper and getting acceptance. But in this case also journal and topic selection is important as that would lead to clear picture of the area and direction of research. The session was appreciated and liked by all the members. Everyone thanked the resource person for an informative and knowledegble session.
