People without the knowledge of their past history, origin and culture are like a tree without roots. Essay writing is a very sensitive form of self expression. It is a harmonious blending of thought and expression. Essay writing is considered to be the most effective test of the ability of a candidate to express his thoughts on a topic of general interest in general, unambiguous and impressive English. Keeping this perspective in mind, IMS Ghaziabad (University Courses Campus) organised an essay writing competition on 22nd February 2016, Monday, on the occasion of Ravidas Jayanti on the topic ?Exploring the History- Bhakti Movement in India and its significance in present era?. Being productive at your craft is important. Being productive in your devotion to grow as a human being is essential. Bhakti, in contrast is spiritual, a love and devotion to religious concepts or principles, that engages both emotion and intellection. Bhakti Movement in Hinduism refers to ideas and engagement that emerged in the medieval era on love and devotion to religious concepts built round one or more god or goddess. The competition was held in respective classrooms of the participants and more than 50 students participated in the competition. The participants were given the time limit of one and a half hour to complete their writing. Participants showed their profound interest towards writing and each essay was a landmark in the essay writing. The essays were collected by the respective class counsellors and were sent to Dr. Nidhi Srivastava, Prof. Aastha Sawhney and Prof. ShenkiTyagi to get evaluated on the basis of content, grammar, structure, presentation and relevance to the topic. Though every participant had set a benchmark, top three deserving candidates were selected for 1st, 2nd and 3rd position and were awarded with trophies and certificates while all the other participants got certificate of participation.
