Summary of the Event:

The School of Management, IMS Ghaziabad (University Courses Campus) organized a Specialization Sensitization session on January 21, 2022, for MIB students of batch 2021-2023. The session was conducted via the zoom online platform. The objective of this program was to bridge the gap between students? aspirations, and corporate expectations. The session was organized to provide an opportunity for students where they can interact with the faculty expert, raise their queries, and can make wise decision while opting for specialization that further add value to their career. Moreover, the session gave insights to the students about various specializations being offered in the institute in the areas of Finance, Marketing, International Business, Human Resource Management, and Business Analytics.

 

The session was inaugurated with an introduction of Alumni Guest Experts Mr. Himanshu Bhardwaj (Data Specialist, Jato Dynamics) and Mr. VaibhavChoudhary (Asst. Manager- Sales, Leadsquared) by Prof. Komal Kapoor. After this, she welcomed Dr. Pooja Rastogi (Chairperson MIB)for addressing the gathering. Dr. Rastogishared her knowledge and gave a magnificent presentation on the new updated course structure of MIB-PGD to give the students insights into what they can expect in the future. She also stated the addition of new skills like research is part of the course structure. And advised students to amalgamate their skills to understand about particular specialization.

 

 

The Alumni Guest Experts shared their views with their young juniors. They recalled the time of IMS while pursuing MIB course and how the faculties helped them to shape their career. They advised students to introspect and know what is best for them before selecting any specific specialization subject. They highlighted important points like opting for certification courses along with specialization courses, importance of internship is really important, role of networking for career growth, and so on. Students also gain insights into the Marketing and Data Analysts field from the alumni experts. After their deliberation, Prof. Komal gave a vote of thanks to Mr. Himanshu Bhardwaj and Mr. VaibhavChoudhary& honored them with an E-Memento.Furthermore, the domain heads from academia discussed their specialization subject and gave students brief insights into it.

 

Thereafter Dr. Pooja Rastogi (Marketing expert), briefed about marketing in the present scenario. She told in marketing, the most important thing is how we can sell the product to our target customers and how to make them aware of the product and influence them to buy our product. She also told that marketing is a lucrative career in an ever-changing environment.

 

Post that, Prof. Komal Kapoor (International Business expert), informed the students that it is an omnipresent subject. To understand this you need to interconnect it with other domains like marketing, advertising, and branding. She also talked about MOOC?s program.

 

After this, Prof. AbhinavKataria and Prof. Abhishek Jain (Finance expert)briefed about the current economic scenario. He said that our economy is growing and there are lots of opportunities in the finance sector. He also added that finance has a huge opportunity for the equity market. He shared that doing the NISM certification course along with the specialization is really helpful. She advised students should opt for finance as it has lots of opportunities waiting for them in careers ahead.

 

Later on, Prof. YagbalaKapil (Human Resource expert) briefed about the scope, opportunities, and trends of HR. Employee performance, Learning & Development, etc. were the topics she threw light upon. She also stated that HR has grown so much and the opportunities are immense in the career.

 

 

Lastly, Prof. ShilpaTyagi (Business Analytics expert), shared her knowledge about the subject which is the combination of Data Analytics, Business Intelligence, and Computer Programming. She also briefed the students about various specialization tools and industry requirements.

 

It was an extremely educative and learning-filled session that benefited the MIB students. At the end of the session, Prof. Komal Kapoor proposed a formal vote of thanks to the honorable alumni experts, Director (Prof. (Dr) Ajay Kumar), Chairperson, Faculty & Staff Members, and Students.

 

 

Learning Outcome: Students gain insights on various promising career options post-MIB. They were also given various Success Mantras, they also got knowledge of various specializations subjects.
