REPORT on Career Counselling Session

Summary of the Event:The School of Information Technology, IMS Ghaziabad (University Courses Campus) organized a ?Career Counselling Session: Future Prospects-Capability Enhancement and Mapping? for the BCA students Batch: 2019-22. Mr. Surya Saxena, assistant prof., IMSUC, commenced the session by introducing IMSUC and giving insights into the session. He then introduced Prof. (Dr) Ajay Kumar, Director, IMSUC and requested him to provide students with his deliberation. Dr. Ajay gladly accepted his request and welcomed all the students who were present in the session. He introduced all the guests, an Alumnus and Associate Designer, Protiviti, Mr. Madhav Garg, Dr. Pooja Rastogi, Chairperson, MIB, IMSUC and KashishKalra, last year student, MIB. He further stated that after graduation, the students will get three options:

1. To get a job,
2. To commence a new Start-up, and
3. To go for higher education

Following this, he further stated that all these roads are risky and the students must choose one to follow with precise care; ?We must be careful while choosing our future?, he said. Providing knowledge of the MIB, MBA and PGDM courses that IMS offers, he ended his speech and wished students the best of luck for their future endeavors. 

Mr. Surya then introduced Chairperson, BCA department, Dr. GaganVarshney and asked him to fill students with his knowledge. Dr. Gagan started with his deliberation by sharing his excitement about conducting this event, ?It is a great pleasure to conduct an event of Career Counselling Event?, he said. He shared his career story to the students in the session and gave an example of what?s the difference between simple soil and the soil being used in making clay pots. Furthermore, he provided five pillars on how to be more focused while choosing a career, which is: Career planning, Self-Assessment, Exploring Options, Narrowing Options and Implementing Goals. At last, He ended his deliberation by saying ?Have a purpose in life, fill it with passion and you will be directed in the right direction at the right time for your career.? 

Mr. Surya introduced Mr. Kashish and congratulated him on securing so far, the highest package in IMS of 17.50 LPA, Richelieu Financial, Dubai, UAE. Mr. Kashish thanked him and shared his experience on how he got this opportunity. He stated that we, students are no different from the others in IIMs, what is different is just our mindset. He also stated that it is important to focus in order to achieve our goals. Dr. Pooja was introduced next and she gave such a remarkable presentation on how doing masters in management after an IT course would be a perfect combination for the students to have both IT as well as managerial skills in their portfolios. After Dr. Pooja?s deliberation, Dr. Gagan gave a vote of thanks to Mr. Madhav Garg and honored him with an E-Memento. Mr. Madhav agreed with all the knowledge that Dr. Pooja provided during her session. He shared how IMS was helpful and cooperative during the times when he was a student and ended up his session by thanking everyone for inviting him. The students then asked their queries and the guests answered them exceptionally. 

Mr. Rakesh Roshan, assistant prof., IMSUC thanked the guests, faculty and the audience to join the session and wrapped up the event.
