IMS School of Informational Technology, IMS Ghaziabad (University Courses Campus) in association with CSI Ghaziabad Chapter organized the National Seminar on ?Application of Data Science in E-Governance? on 18th February 2022 through online mode via Zoom app.

 

 

The seminar commenced by seeking the blessings of Goddess Saraswati followed by the welcome address by Prof. (Dr) Ajay Kumar - Director IMS Ghaziabad (University Courses Campus).Sir captivated the students by stating that importance of data and data science in present times. He also disseminated the message that data science has brought positive changes all over the world.

 

Dr Gagan Varshney(Chairperson, IMS School of IT), also shared his thoughts ontheme of the seminar. Sir shared numerous educational thoughts and explained the term data science and the use of it in various areas. He went on to welcome all the eminent guests of the day and drew the audience's attention by talking about the IMS School of IT.

 

As the session progressed, the moderator requested Prof Rakesh Roshan to welcome the chief guest of the day Prof (Dr) A.K. Nayak(Advisor, IIBM Group of Institutions, Former President, CSI) to address the gathering.Dr Nayak highlighted that data science and E-governance is emerging in our country by our honorable PM Shri Narendra Modi. In this rapidly changing world of new opportunities, we need to be focused, determined, and accountable for growth. And Technology is the torch bearer of society which enlights the mankind. He emphasized on the fact that necessity is the mother of invention.In his remarks, he said that data science is a multidisciplinary approach and can be applied to various applications. In the end Dr Ajay presented an E-memento to the Dr Nayak.

After chief guest deliberation, the first session of the day began with Dr Sambath Parthasarathy. The topic of the session was ?Data driven and People Centered Innovation?. Dr Sambath briefed about the challenges of tech adoption in Govt. ecosystem. Data disruption and data centric innovation were the main topics of his speech. He also gave example of the impact of data and a data service in govt is seeing various sectors like business, data privacy/GDPR, surveillance and finance. He also stated that More Data, More power is the new mantra today in the society. After his deliberation, Dr. Varshney honored him with an E- Memento.

 

Post that, the second session of the day began with Mr Chandra S Samavedula. The topic of the session was ?Importance of e-Gov and Data Science Application in Healthcare, Agriculture and Infrastructure?. Mr Chandra briefed the students that E-governance, big data, machine learning and AI is planning, managing and governing the country. He also explained them what data science is.  He also talked about the fact that IOT and data science is advancing the healthcare. Due to data science medical industry is moving to digitalization services. He said that agriculture and infrastructure are also benefitting from the use of data science in various ways. Like optimal crop farming, crop rotation policy, crop forecasting, online management of land records are some of the examples. After his deliberation, Dr. Varshney honored him with an E- Memento.

 

Lastly, the third session of the day began with Mr Kamlesh Kumar. The topic of the session was ?Use of Cloud Technologies in Data Science?. Mr Kumar shared his knowledge of cloud computing association with data science. He stated that both go hand in hand with each other in the IT industry. He also said that cloud computing is interdisciplinary field that uses science and work from the use of data.After his deliberation, Dr. Varshney honored him with an E- Memento.

 

It was an extremely educative and learning-filled session that benefited the participants.At the end of the session, Prof. Neeru Saxena proposed a formal vote of thanks to the honorable guests, IMS Executive Council Member [CA (Dr) Rakesh Chharia (General Secretary, IMS Group of Institutions) and Vidur Chharia (Executive Council member)], Director (Prof. (Dr) Ajay Kumar), Chairperson, Faculty & Staff Members, and Students.
