IMS School of Journalism and Mass Communication organized First Edition National Media Conclave on "National Security & Media" on Saturday, April 16, 2022, under patronage of General Secretary CA (Dr.) Rakesh Chharia, Dr. (Prof.) Ajay Kumar, Director, and IMS Ghaziabad UC Campus.

The Guests for the event was Shri Rahul Dev, Senior Journalist, Shri Vishnu Prakash Tripathi, Executive Editor, Dainik Jagran, Shri Uday Kumar, Consulting Editor, Amar Ujala, Shri Rajkishor, Editor at Large, ABP Network, Shri Kripashankar, UP & Uttarakhand Prachar Pramukh RSS, Shri Sanyam Srivastav, Deputy Editor, TV9 Bharatvarsh (Digital), Prof Arun Kumar Bhagat, Member BPSC, Patna, Shri Ashok Srivastava, Senior Consulting Editor, DD News, Shri Sami Kumar, Head, Prasar Bharti News Service, Shri Alok Bhadauria, Senior Journalist, Shri Surendra Prasad Singh, National Deputy Bureau Chief, Dainik Jagran, Shri Harsh Vardhan Tripathi, Senior Journalist graced the ocassion.

Dr. Ajay Kumar, Director, IMS Ghaziabad UC Campus, said that the media are the fourth pillar of democracy because of their crucial role in shaping public opinion. He added that the media makes people aware of the various social, political, and economic activities taking place in the world, whereas CA Rakesh Chharia, said that the media act as the mirror to the government, it not only gives powers to the nation but makes India's democracy stronger. And the dedication and sacrifice which journalists have shown during the covid time are applaudable. The new concept of yellow journalism was the hot spot of his opinion.

The day-long deliberations of the conclave created an interface among these experts who are the acumen in their domains, who specifically emphasized the emerging role of media in the context of national security, shared their practical experiences and insights on how new media technologies will determine the future growth of their respective fields and the country on the whole.

The conclave was divided into three sessions, The topic of the first session was 'Role of Media as an Opinion Leader', panel fitted for this was - Mr. Sanyam Srivastava, Mr. Alok Bhadauriya & Mr. Vishnu Prakash Tripathi. The second session topic chosen was 'Role of Citizen Journalism in National Security, along with panelists Mr. Rajkishor, Mr. Harshvarshan Tripathi, Mr. Kripa Shankar & Mr. Surendra Pratap Singh.  The third session's topic was 'Social Media and Right to Expression' and the dais was graced with the presence of the following eminent panelists Mr. Rahul Dev, Mr. Uday Kumar, and Mr. Ashok Srivastava & Mr. Sameer Kumar.

All guests of different sessions cleared the doubts of the students and shared their insightful knowledge with the students and it was very interactive sessions.

The students asked questions and took this opportunity to get further insights from the panelists on the topic of discussion. Importance of individual preferences which are driven by location preferences, usage of data analytics to gain meaningful insights, synchronized communication videos, and viral content on Social Media where it is important for the users not to blindly believe in everything that he sees. The panel addressed queries of inquisitive students with great enthusiasm and allowed the students to maximize their learning from the session.The session ended by presenting mementos to the panelists as a token of appreciation for taking time out of their busy schedules and interacting with the students.The conclave ended with a Vote of Thanks.
