Summary of the Event
The School of Management, IMS GHAZIABAD (University Courses Campus) organized the ‘Phoenix- BBA Pre-Induction Program’ on 14th September 2022 for the new BBA Batch of 2022-2025. The program laid out a roadmap of opportunities, a vision for the future, and motivation for career paths, to give a heady start to the new batch. To this end, stalwarts from industrial domains of Consulting, Logistics, FMCG, and Financial Technology were invited to address the gathering of about five hundred students. The program was spread over two sessions which were conducted successfully to acquaint the students with the challenges and opportunities that are to come their way. This was carried out by the personal testimonials shared by the guests of honor, who graciously shared their success stories and lessons from personal experiences.
For the first session, The School of Management invited illustrious dignitaries such as Mr. Ajay Goyal CEO,  International Division of Agarwal Packers and Movers Pvt. Ltd., Ms. Snigdha Varmani AVP HR in Genpact., Mr. Vaibhav Arora, Director of Consulting at KPMG Global Services, Ms. Manisha Pawar Regional Head HR-North Dabur India Ltd., and  Dr. Arun Kumar Singh, Director  IMS Ghaziabad University Courses Campus.
Dr. Arun Kumar, after facilitating the guests of honor, addressed the gathering, highlighting how students at IMS are chiseled to be leaders of tomorrow. He encouraged the students to make the most of the facilities being provided by the Institute, such as the academic resources and the e-resources available at the library, and to engage with the faculty. He also shared the 3S Model for growth- 1. Stop- what is not working for you 2. Start- something (improve skill set) 3. Sustain- what you have learned. He encouraged the students to read diversely, connect unconnected ideas, choose friends wisely, and develop personal perspectives.
Mr. Ajay Goyal CEO,  International Division of Agarwal Packers and Movers Pvt. Ltd, through the testimony of his career growth, talked about the importance of serving the client as the foremost duty.  He further shared the importance of learning from mistakes, innovation, and growth.
Ms. Snigdha Varmanni, AVP HR in Genpact,  through an interactive session engaged the students to think about the long-term dynamics of the industry. By learning constantly, being solution-oriented, connecting with one’s values and culture, and most importantly cultivating a passion for one’s career: all this would prepare the students for the changes in their industry in the time to come, she said.
Mr. Amit Jawar, the Business Head of the North region in Dabur India, delivered a thought-provoking presentation on the FMCG Industry. Drawing illustrations from his own life, he encouraged the students to think of the future and to read voraciously to keep abreast with the changing trends in the industry. ‘Progression is better than perfection’ was a key maxim of his presentation. He further encouraged the students to be data-oriented, harness business acumen, and develop a work ethic, inquisitiveness, awareness, adaptability, and passion.
The Director of Consulting at KPMG Global Services, Mr. Vaibhav Arora addressed the gathering next. His address was aimed at training the students in interview skills. He advised the students on how to give better answers to stand out from the crowd. Among other valuable points were: the importance of aligning with the point of view of the interviewer, having the ability to tell your own story, building networks of relationships, and cultivating hobbies outside of professional life.
In the second session, the School of Management hosted notable personalities from the FinTech industry such as Mr. Sandeep Kumar Rastogi Business Head- Neobanking, Rapipay Fintech Pvt. Ltd,Ms. Manisha Pathak Head ETF Sales North, Mirae Asset Global Inc., and Mr. Sumit Raisinghania, COO, MCube Financial. Dr.CA Shri RAKESH CHARIA Sir - General Secretary IMS Group of Institutions also graced the occasion with his presence.
Mr. Sandeep Kumar Rastogi, Business Head- Neobanking, Rapipay Fintech Pvt. Ltd., encouraged the students to work towards the goal of being successful in their professional life. He urged the students to set goals, and follow them in small steps of progression. He highlighted the need to bypass the obstacles that may hinder the process of learning. As the students are just starting their professional course, he advised them to turn their theoretical knowledge into practical implementation.
Ms. Manisha Pathak, Head ETF Sales North, Mirae Asset Global Inc. with her specialization in Mutual Funds shared many insights about her industry. She highlighted the spurt in Mutual Funds investment in the post-Covid financial scenario and laid a roadmap for the industry in years to come, especially the changing trends due to digitalization. She encouraged the students to learn about changing trends in the investment industry, such as the growing prominence of the Exchange Credit Fund (ECF). The combination of passion and practical practices, she assured, would lead the young ones towards success.
Mr. Sumeet Raisinghania, COO, MCube Financial, highlighted the need for passion, zeal, and hard work in the journey ahead. He talked about the importance of developing reliable relationships, growing in technical, verbal, and written communication skills, and learning about Commercial Mortgage Backed Securities (CMBS). He also highlighted the skill sets that recruiters look out for, such as good knowledge of finance and accountancy, MS Excel proficiency, Communication skills, and zeal for the work.
The event was successful in laying before the students the opportunities that will be coming their way as they embark on the new journey in the School of Management.  Dr. Indrani Bhattacharjee, HOD BBA  Department delivered the vote of thanks to all the dignitaries, faculty, and students.
