School of Biosciences, IMS Ghaziabad University Courses organized a “Journal Club” meeting based on Research Paper Presentation by the students pursuing Specialization of Agriculture Biotechnology on 15th January 2021, Friday. Main agenda of this club is to enhance the reading and presentation skills among the students with special reference to scientific literature and research papers. The session started with a welcome note by Dr. Abha Vashistha, Program Chairperson, School of Biosciences, wherein she highlighted the importance of understanding, reading and extracting information from scientific literature in the field. She encouraged the students to inculcate the habit of critically analysing the scientific information. Dr. Hemlata Srivastava discussed the history, benefits and advantages of “The Journal Club” for research learners in the field of Biotechnology & Microbiology. Under the guidance of Prof. Anjula Chaudhary students of B. Sc. (H) Biotechology Divya Badoni, Nikita Arora, Yashda Singh, and Bharti Singhal pursuing specialization course in Agriculture Biotechnology presented their reviews on selected research papers and discussed about the various aspects of biofortification, salt stress and plant derived edible vaccine against Hepatitis-B viruses and vermicomposting. The session ended with a formal vote of thanks by Prof. Akanksha Jain, she appreciated the efforts of the students and motivated them to explore and take initiative. The session ignited the spark in the minds of students to begin reading scientific literature and reports and also participate in scientific interactions.
