Second UP State Ranking TT tournament opens at IMS Ghaziabad University Courses Campus

The three-day second IMS State Ranking Table Tennis Tournament began here today at the IMS Ghaziabad University Courses Campus Adhyatmik Nagar. The tournament is being organized under the aegis of Ghaziabad District Table Tennis Committee (Ad-hoc) under direction of the Uttar Pradesh Table Tennis Association (UPTTA). The tournament has been promoted by Stag International, the leading manufacturer, exporter and supplier of sports accessories.
Approximately 400 Table Tennis players from from Ghaziabad, Gautam Buddh Nagar, Agra, Allahabad, Faizabad, Lucknow, Kanpur, Saharanpur, Meerut, Sultanpur, Mirzapur, Moradabad, Bareilly , Varanasi, Etawah, and Jhansi are participating in Men's & Women's as well as Youth, Cadet, Junior, Sub-junior categories for boys and girls. Players participating in the tournament include national ranked players like Ambika Gupta (Allahabad), Divyansh Shrivastava (Lucknow) and Radha Priya Goel (Ghaziabad)
The tournament was inaugurated with lamp lighting and offering floral obeisance to goddess Saraswati. Addressing the gathering on the occasion, Dr. Sapna Rakesh, the Director of IMS Ghazianabad (University Courses Campus) said sports are essential for overall development of personality. They bring out hidden talents of the students and that is why the IMS has always been keen to promote sports activities. Among those present in the inaugural ceremony included Rajeev Sharma, Organizing Secretary, Rishi Raj Tyagi , convener, GDTTC (Ad hoc), Chief Referee of the tournament Amit Singh, Deputy Referee Parul Dixit, players and their coaches besides others.


As many as 200 matches were played on the opening day. In the Youth Girls category (Pre-quarter final Match) Suhana (Moradabad) defeated Vartika (Agra) 14-12 , 11-6 ,11-8, Saloni Bansal (Lucknow) defeated Ankita Gupta (Ghaziabad) 11-5 , 11-5 , 11-6, Mahika Dixit (Ghaziabad) defeated Abhisarika Yadav (Kanpur) 11-9, 11-9, 11-7 and Kavya Gupta (Allahabad) defeated Akriti Srivastava (Lucknow) 11-7, 11-7,11-3.
In the third round in Sub-junior Boys Avi Pal (Allahabad) defeated Medhash (Ghaziabad) 11-3,11-6,14-12, Akshat Tyagi (Ghaziabad) defeated Divyansh Gupta (Lucknow) 11-8 , 11-8 , 11-2, Aditya Dobriyal (Noida) defeated Krishna Sharma (Ghaziabad) 11-9, 11-9 , 9-11 , 11-6, Sarth Mishra (Ghaziabad) defeated Abhinay Chaudhary (Kanpur) 11-7,11-3, 11-8, Sridhar Joshi (Noida) defeated Ishan Bansal (Agra) 11-5 , 13-11 ,11-8 and Vibhore Garg (Ghaziabad) moved ahead defeating Deepak Yadav (Allahabad) 11-6 , 11-7,11-7.
