As IMS always believes in being a step ahead, to maintain its legacy IMSUC organized a workshop on ?Know Your Intellectual Property Rights?on 11 August 2018. Dr. Parikshit started the sessionwith questions such as What is Intellectual Property Rights? Why to know about Intellectual Property Rights? Then answering the questions to the audience and how IPR plays role in related fields. Further explaining the Government of India step towards innovation and IPR such as National IPR Policy, Atal Innovation Mission, Atal Tinkering labs, Technology and Innovation support centres. Emphasis the need of IP Wokforce in India and career opportunities for them in Govt and private sector such as Patent examiner, Patent agent, Patent analyst, Patent manager etc. Finally explaining the types of IP (Patents, Designs, Trademarks, Copyright, Geographical Indication, Plant variety protection, Semiconductor layout design protection) and process of filing the Patent application, Copyright application and the Success stories of Hindustan Unilever Limited for their Patents, J.K Rowling for her copyright Dr. Parikshit talked about this concept and brought a large pool of knowledge & information with them. This, I believe, will be greatly beneficial to the students with creative minds across all the courses, be it Management, Information Technology, Bio-Sciences or Journalism & Mass Communication.
