Workshop on 'REPORT WRITING'

"With homework, school prepares students for overtime. With reports, it prepares them for payday."

The guest speaker Prof. Aastha Sawhney started the lecture by delivering a quote "If you can't explain it simply, you don't understand it well enough". She initiated a friendly conversation to know the point of concern in writing an effective report. After considering the points, she continued with the basic introduction of report. Initially, she explained the two major types of reports namely- Formal and Informal reports. Furthermore, she categorized these reports as: Special reports, Routine reports, Technical reports, progress reports, Director's report, Auditor's report, Confidential report, Market report and Press report.

Concurrently, she discussed the layout of writing a report. To begin with title page, then table of contents, followed by acknowledgment and body of report.

Eventually she described the body of report which is as follows:
Introduction
Method of investigation
Discussion/description
Findings
Conclusion
Recommendations
Appendix
List of references
Bibliography
Glossary of technical words

Finally, she ended her lecture with the do's and don'ts to be considered while writing a good report. With this purpose in mind she clarified the doubts regarding the report writing and ended with a positive note.
