Seminar on INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY RIGHTS

A One-day Seminar on INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY RIGHTS was organized by IMS Ghaziabad, University Courses Campus in association with Consortium of Women Entrepreneurs of India (CWEI) and Ghaziabad Management Association (GMA) on August 23, 2019 at IMS Ghaziabad, University Courses Campus. Intellectual property is a category of property that includes intangible creations of the human intellect. There are many types of intellectual property, and some countries recognize more than others. The most well-known types are copyrights, patents, trademarks, and trade secrets. Rights arrive out of their ownership and fair use.

Eminent dignitaries from the industry deliberated upon various aspects of IPR. Dr. Ms. Shashi Singh, Social Entrepreneur, Gender Specialist, International Consultant - Enterprise Development highlighted the importance of IP Tools for the Entrepreneurs. Shri Yashawant Dev Panwar, Head, Patent Facilitating Centre (PFC) discussed the different types of Intellectual Property (IP), Mr. Satish Kumar Meena, Examiner of Patents & Design discussed the role of facilitation Centre in promoting patents & design, Trademarks, Copyright Act. Dr. Shikha Rastogi, Principal Scientist, CSIR discussed about the significance of Novelty, Innovation, Creativity & Protection of IPR, Patents & Design Acts through various Case Studies. Shri Aasish Somasi ( Senior associate, Anand and Anand, Delhi) discussed IP as a tool for Marketing, its usage in the industry and protecting Trademarks & Copyright in India.

The last session was an Open-House Panel Discussion in which the experts attempted to give answer to the queries raised by the student participants across all the courses. The event concluded by a Vote of Thanks proposed by Mr. Anuvrat Verma (Student, BBA Final Year). The seminar was greatly beneficial to the students with creative minds across all the courses of IMS Ghaziabad, University Courses Campus, be it Management, Information Technology, Bio-Sciences or Journalism & Mass Communication.
