Visit to National Science Centre and Wonders of Waste, New Delhi

A Visit to National Science Centre and Wonders of Waste, New Delhi was organized by the School of Biosciences, IMS Ghaziabad, University Courses Campus for first year students of Microbiology on 25 September. The museum is one of the largest science centers in the country, with the aim of learning science with fun. The center has six permanent halls full of interesting and hands-on participatory exhibits.The students were more excited about the exhibition, especially, the galleries entitled 'Our Science and Technology Heritage', 'The March of Information Revolution' and 'Water-The Elixir of Life'. Besides they attended the shows based on various aspects of science which were organized by the center. The shows were related to the 3-D Dinosaur Show, The Blue Planet-Science on Sphere show, Communication Saga and the Nuclear Power Plant Operations Show, which evoked curiosity among the students.

In addition to this students visited Waste of Wonders, where the theme park, houses miniature, replicas of the Taj Mahal (20 feet), Great Pyramid of Giza (18 feet), the Eiffel Tower (60 feet), Leaning Tower of Pisa (25 feet), Rio de Janeiro's Christ the Redeemer statue (25 feet), Rome's Colosseum (15 feet) and New York's Statute of Liberty (30 feet) were made up of industrial waste and other waste material like scrap metal, discarded auto parts, procured from the landfills of the city. Innovation, Recycling and Affordability would define the key characteristics of this park.

The aim of the visit was to develop scientific awareness among the students. They were also fascinated with the use of scrap to do wonders. They enjoyed the visit and the plethora of displays left them spell-bound. The students were really drawn in the magical world of science and were greatly inspired. The trip was an enriching experience for them.
