School of Biosciences, IMS Ghaziabad University courses campus organized a workshop on "Instrumentation and Microbiological Techniques" on 27-28 January 2020. The workshop aimed to equip participants with skills required to handle and operate sophisticated analytical instruments which are imperative in the present industrial environment.

The experience of various analytical instruments and microbiological techniques is vital and enables the students to pursue research in many areas of modern science and technology. The focus areas were Chromatography, Spectroscopy, Electrophoresis and Preparation of Media, various methods of streaking and spreading, Microbial Isolation, Staining and Characterization.

This workshop covered the theoretical aspects like introduction to instrumentation, operation, troubleshooting, calibration, method development and limitations of various approaches towards instruments. For microbiological aspect preparation and sterilization of equipment and culture media, inoculation of media with prepared culture, incubation, staining methods and isolation of microbes were also discussed. Along with this practical demonstration on the above-mentioned area and hands on training to each participant was also provided. This workshop granted an exclusive learning opportunity to the graduate students.
