Summary of Lohri Celebration
IMS Ghaziabad (University Courses Campus) celebrated the festival of Lohri with great enthusiasm and cultural spirit, creating a lively and joyful atmosphere on campus. The event brought together students, faculty members, and staff to celebrate tradition, unity, and cultural values.
BJP Spokesperson Shri Shivam Tyagi arrived on campus and was warmly welcomed by the Director of the institute, Prof. (Dr.) Jaskiran Kaur. Following the welcome, they proceeded to the ground where the Lohri fire pit had been arranged. The celebration formally began with Shri Shivam Tyagi lighting the Lohri bonfire, marking an auspicious start to the festivities.
The festive ambience was further enhanced by the energetic beats of traditional dhol players, whose performances added vibrancy and enthusiasm to the occasion, drawing students and faculty together and setting a celebratory tone for the event.
After the lighting of the bonfire, Shri Shivam Tyagi addressed the students, delivering a motivational speech in which he encouraged them to remain focused, disciplined, and committed to achieving their goals while upholding
cultural and moral values. He emphasized the importance of youth participation in nation-building and personal growth.
In keeping with Lohri traditions, popcorn, revri, and peanuts were offered into the bonfire by the Chief Guest and the Director, honouring the cultural significance of the festival.
The celebration continued with an energetic dance performance by the Cultural Club, which added vibrancy and colour to the event and was thoroughly enjoyed by the audience.
Following the performance, a memento was presented to Shri Shivam Tyagi as a token of appreciation for his presence and contribution to the celebration.
Adding a fun element to the event, a musical chairs game using newspapers instead of chairs was organized, generating excitement and enthusiastic participation among students. This was followed by an open dance session where various Indian songs were played, and students gathered on the ground to dance, celebrate, and enjoy the festive spirit together.
The event concluded on a warm and memorable note as students once again offered popcorn, revri, and peanuts into the Lohri bonfire, embracing the cultural essence of the festival and bringing the celebration to a meaningful close.
