Summary of the Event:

The Career Development Centre at IMS Ghaziabad, University Courses Campus organized a webinar on ‘Workplace Communication: Importance, Strategies and Examples’ on 8 June 2021. This webinar was exclusively planned for the students registered in Certification Program ‘Optimizing Communication Styles at Workplace’. Ms. Shivani Verma,Senior Portfolio Manager, Skycap Financial Investments, Dubai, IMS MIB alumna (2017-2019) and Mr. Vaibhav Chaudhary, Executive Business Development, NoPaperForms Solutions Private Limited, IMS MIB ( 2019-2021) were invited to address the students and answer their queries related to communication pitfalls at the workplace. Both of them explained how consistency, reciprocity and consensus in communication can help anyone to persuade effectively.Students also go to know how they can say more succinctly. They also shared thatin order to be understood, it is imperative to follow the maxim of quality, relevance and manner. Ms. Priyanka Sadhna, Chairperson, Career Development Centre (CDC), in the webinaremphasized how paradoxically in the age of constant communication, the raw material for authentic conversation has actually disappeared. Draun Vashishta, member of the Career Pathway Club conducted the webinar with unwavering attention. Students namely Anuradha, Divyanshi, Aanchal, Divyansh, Riya Sawhney, Anushka Aggarwal, Shreya, Nisha, Anuja, Sonali, Sakshi Aggarwal and Aditi actively participated in the discussion. The CDC faculty team of Ms. Anuradha Bhardwaj, Ms. Himanshi Verma and Ms. Sapna Kumar co-ordinated the entire session. Studentsappreciated the modus operandi and emphasized on the relevance of conducting webinars for their constant development. CDC team members extended a note of gratitude toDr. Sapna Rakesh, Director, IMS Ghaziabad, University Courses Campusfor encouraging all the faculty and staff members to upskill the students in this pandemic wave by enabling a multitude of transformations.

 

Learning Outcome

This session gave participants an understanding of factors that contribute to effective communication skills in variety of contexts and situations, especially within a workplace environment. The participants were sensitized about the relevance of adapting to constant changes in this new normal. The discussion was an eye opener for all the members present as it raised significant techniques on adapting to digital communication tools.
