Summary of the Event:

 

The Department of Management Studies at IMS-Ghaziabad, University Courses Campus organized the Guest Lecture on CONSUMER PROTECTION RIGHTS from the Ministry of Consumer Affairs for BBA second-year students (Batch 2019-22) on June 30, 2021(Wednesday). The guest speakers of the lecture were Ms. Ranjeet Kaur and Ms. Seema Sharma from National Consumer Helpline, Indian Institute of Public Administration IP Estate, Delhi.

 

The session commenced with a warm and heartfelt welcoming of the guest speakers by Dr. Geeti Sharma, Chairperson BBA program wherein, she apprised the students and gave insights on Consumer Protection Rights and awareness.

 

This guest lecture was intended to familiarize the students with consumer rights and responsibilities. This lecture was purposely organized to make the students familiar with consumer affairs and their rights. Then the session was commenced by Ms. Seema Sharma by the introduction of the National Consumer Helpline, a project of the Ministry of Consumer Affairs. She added that NCH has a three-tier approach that redresses the grievances of the consumers. Furthermore, she apprised the students about the evolution and history of the Consumer Protection Act 1986. She furthermore discussed the Consumer Protection Act 2019(New) that has evolved out with the new rules and policies. She also distinguished between the CPA 1986 and CPA 2019 and told about the launching of the E-portal which facilitates to lodge the complaint online. She also talked about the provisions of e-portal and added it's not been implemented in all states yet. She also made students aware of the consumers and their rights.

In the second half of the lecture,Ms. Ranjeet Kaur talked over the various consumer sectors like Insurance, E-commerce, Digital Transactions, and LPG, etc. She also told students about the safety tips as the consumer and the redressal policies for grievances. She also played videos on digital transactions and customer care service to make the students familiar with it followed by apprising the students about the do's and don?ts as a consumer.

The Master of the ceremony presented the E-momento - The token of gratitude and respect to the guest speakers and thanked them for delivering such a fruitful session. Further, the session ended with a formal vote of thanks by Dr. Kumar Saurav, Head-Marketing Specialization. Thenceforward he extended his heartfelt thanks to the speakers for gracing the lecture and sharing the informative insights with the students. It was indeed a wonderful and insightful session.
