Summary of the Event: 

School of Biosciences, in association with IMS Greens Cell, of the IMS Ghaziabad University Courses Campus organized a Tree Planting Campaign on June 6, Monday. The IMS Ghaziabad University Courses Campus Garden was the venue for the event. The club came up with the planting campaign to instil the values of nurturing nature with teamwork and importance of the environment. The session was inaugurated with the humble presence of Prof (Dr) Ajay Kumar, Director.  

The event was graced with the benign presence of Dr. Umesh Kumar (HOD Bioscience), Dr. Gagan Varshney (HOD School of IT), Dr. Anil Nigam (HOD, School of Journalism), and other faculty members. IMS Greens Cabinet members and volunteers were also involved to plant the saplings of Molshree plant (Mimusops elengi).

Tree plantation drives are not just something that should be done; instead, it is a necessity, the urgent need of the hour. Plantation drives combat many environmental issues like deforestation, erosion of soil, desertification in semi-arid areas, global warming and hence enhancing the beauty and balance of the environment. Trees absorb harmful gases and emit oxygen resulting in an increase in oxygen supply.

The global campaign for World Environment Day 2022 asks for radical policy and lifestyle reforms to allow cleaner, greener, and more sustainable living in harmony with nature. It will focus on the importance of eco-sustainability and peaceful nature, as well as our options for transitioning to a greener lifestyle through environmental policy and individual decisions.
