Report of Big Ideas Club Activity “SHASTRARTH (Parliamentary Podium 2.0)” on 24 May 2022

Summary

BIG IDEAS CLUB of IMS GHAZIABAD (University Courses Campus) organized an event SHASTRARTH (Parliamentary Podium) on 24^TH MAY,2022. The objective of this activity is to educate the students about the working process of nation’s parliament, and also to develop skills in the youth to solve issues and manage negotiations.

The event is divided into three major parts i.e., Formal Debate, Informal Debate and the Sum up session. The Moderator of the session was Animesh Ojha, and the Co-moderators were Manan. In panel of Judges there were Prof. Rajat, Prof. Tripti goel, Prof. Aanchal luthra.

The participants have to act like Members of Parliament and have to speak in that capacity. There were 3 groups namely: National Democratic Alliance (NDA), United Progressive Alliance (UPA), Federal Front 

Then the session started with the opening speech by the participant acting as Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi, followed by the participant acting as Home Minister of India Mr Amit Shah talking about the various topic and putting their motto “SAB EK SAMAN HAI”. Judges and Moderators also actively took participation in the event by asking questions. Opening speech then followed by the participant acting as Mr. Rajnath Singh, Rahul Gandhi after him Mr. Arvind Kejriwal continues with their opening speeches.

After the opening speeches moderators continues the session with Formal Debate on topic “Does the Indian constitution really accepts secularism.” The external affairs minister Mr. S. Jaishankar opens the discussion by stating some points like, does India really accepts secularism? Ever since they are in power, they tried to reduce fights, mob inching regarding a particular community. But on contrary to that Soniya Gandhi states they facts wrong and give statements supporting opposition party. Then everyone from all three groups states their points with facts and valid justifications to support them.

Then moderators switch the session into Informal Debate. Shivraj Chauhan starts the session by addressing the people about the statements given by Priyanka Gandhi on dresses and the opposition party contradicts on that. All over it was a very lively and energetic event.

In the sum up session, moderators asked for voting on the bills proposed by ruling and opposition. Through the process of voting by house members passes the bill implementation of uniform civil code and then after this the winners of Shastrarth were announced:
