The department of journalism and mass communication organized a guest lecture on Scope and challenges of media by inviting Dr. Pradeep Kumar Mathur, the Former Head of Indian Institute of Mass Communication , Delhi . Professor Pradeep K Mathur is a stalwart in the field of Media education. He possesses a four decades of industrial and teaching experience. He held several responsible positions in various leading newspapers of the north India before jumping into the media teaching. He played a vital role to build IIMC New Delhi as a premier institute of Mass Communication. He was also involved in the curriculum design of numerous universities including IGNOU, Aligarh Muslim University, MG International Hindi University, Wardha, Kota University, Rajasthan, and Guru Jambeshwar University. Mr. Mathur firstly cleared the myth that ?Media industry has no scope?. He denied all such stereotype feeling related to media industry such as ?sources are required to get in the media industry?, ?job security?, ?Print media will eventually die due to the emergence of new media.? He also cleared all the fears of media industry spreading amongst the students. He threw some light on different types of media and some challenges faced by the people involved in media industry. The students enjoyed the interactive session and also participated with great enthusiasm. It fulfilled the idea of promoting professional exposure to the students.
