Guest Lecture by Mr. Manoj Kr. Pandey

School of Biosciences, IMS Ghaziabad, University Courses Campus organized a guest lecture on 27th September. Dr. Manoj Kumar Pandey, Scientific Officer, Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission (IPC) Ghaziabad delivered his talk on "Microbiological Quality Control of Pharmaceutical Products". He initially introduced IPC as an autonomous institution of Health and Family Welfare Ministry, Government of India which is established to set the standards of drugs in the country. He conveyed that Indian Pharmacopoeia sets the standards for identity, purification and certain other aspects of a drug. Further he added that Analytical research & Development Division at IPC emphasizes to set the high standards through research activities with the help of high end equipments. In accordance with latest advancements, the analytical test procedures are used to be revised. Further he imparted the knowledge of various techniques that are used for checking the quality and other features of the drugs.

At the end of the session vote of thanks was proposed by Dr. Abha Vashistha, Chairperson, School of Biosciences, she conveyed her gratitude for such the wonderful session. This lecture was indeed very helpful to understand the functioning of IPC. The students acknowleged the functioning of IPC along with the publication of monograph in the form of Indian Pharmacopoeia (IP) and promotion of generic medicines. Dr. Manoj Pandey also informed about the various organizations dealing with the pharmacology aspects, where the students of Biotechnology & Microbiology will choose bright career perspectives.
